1. Programme Objectives and Goals
The Uganda Clays Graduate Training Programme is guided by the following objectives:
a) Build a Sustainable Talent Pipeline
b) Enhance Talent Retention and Career Growth
c) Strengthen Succession Planning
2. Target Group
The programme is open to fresh graduates (with less than 2 years of post-graduation experience) from the following academic backgrounds:
Mechanical Engineering: Degree holders
Electrical Engineering: Degree holders
Industrial Chemistry: Degree holders
3. Programme Duration
This is a 24-month programme that includes structured rotations and performance assessments across key functional areas such as:
Production
Internal Audit
Finance
Each graduate will undergo hands-on experience, mentorship, and periodic evaluations to support their growth and alignment with business needs.
4. Training and Development Components
Uganda Clays has designed a robust training framework with the following components:
1) Technical Skills Development
Clay Processing and Material Science: Properties, preparation, and baking of clay
Manufacturing Techniques: Moulding, shaping, and kiln operations
Quality Control: Standards compliance and inspection techniques
Machinery Maintenance and Operation: Troubleshooting and machine operations
2) Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
Occupational Safety: Use of PPE, hazard control, and emergency response
Environmental Stewardship: Waste management and sustainability practices
First Aid & Emergency Training: Safety drills and basic first aid procedures
3) Soft Skills and Professional Development
Communication and Teamwork: Building collaboration and interpersonal skills
Leadership Development: Enhancing personal effectiveness and leadership potential
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Structured approaches to challenges
4) Industry-Specific Knowledge
Market Dynamics: Trends in construction and ceramic materials
Product Innovation: Encouraging creativity in design and process improvement
Supply Chain Logistics: Stock management, procurement, and distribution systems
