JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Development
● Capture unique, personalized content for donors who support the scholarship program, including student portraits, thank you videos, handwritten letters from students and other bespoke content as part of the donor engagement
strategy.
● Provide regular updates on class actvites and progress to keep sponsors engaged.
● Coordination and support of key donor activites – two-way comms, cards and letters, student-drawn pictures, and
more.
● Record and share birthday videos or photos for sponsored students.
● Coordinate and facilitate student responses to sponsor letters to ensure timely and meaningful communication.
● Understand donor requirements and support collection of additional content and stories to demonstrate the
impact of donor investment.
● Promote key achievements and highlights in Uganda to both Australian staff and donors.
● Supports the Communications and Marketing Officer in content capture for high profile events and milestones.
● Understand the importance and intricacies of child safeguarding in relation to storytelling, and ensure students
share their story in a safe manner.
Content Management
● Supports the development of donor collateral, communications and various other touchpoints for the Scholarship
Program.
● Deliver content on time and of high quality to the Australian Team as per the agreed timelines.
● Ensure smooth uploading of photos and other content to Dropbox, adhering to agreed naming conventions, for
smooth integration of content into donor communications.
● Work with both the Australian and Uganda Teams to coordinate key content capture days, including on-the-ground
coordination, ensuring that days deliver the required content
● Supports donor visits and is the back-up coordinator for traveler logistics (Communication and Marketing Officer
leads)
Data Management
● Manage the collection and delivery of sponsorship data and student updates to foster meaningful sponsor–student
connections.
● Support key data processes, e.g. student dropout processes, student registration, donor cancellation or new
donors.
● Helps manage the donor portal – Maintaining data, updating pages, approving two-way comms and
responses/content.
● Support the ongoing maintenance and integration of student data between the donor CRM (Salesforce) and the
Ugandan Student Management Information System, ensuring that new students and dropouts are communicated
as early as possible.
● Support student data questions and coordination between the Australian and Ugandan teams.
Stakeholder Management
● Coordinate with Ugandan staff and teachers to ensure that content is delivered in a streamlined manner, with
limited impact to student learning.
● Champions the importance of the Scholarship Program and builds alignment between students, parents, teachers
and the Australian community. This includes creating a stakeholder messaging strategy that is signed off by the
Country Director and rolled out in partnership with the Head Teachers of each school.
● Develop and promote strategies to improve and streamline content gathering in Uganda to the Australian Team.
● Educate and promote the impact of the scholarship program for staff and students, ensuring they understand its
importance to SFL sustainability and student fees.
● Manage volunteers and other staff members for content collection, where necessary.
● Ensure strong relationships with students and teachers, ensuring that they feel comfortable and happy during
content capture processes.
● Support operational logistics for Australian staff and donor trips to Uganda.
Team Integration and Cross-Cultural Adaption
● Work across the Ugandan time zone, but with occasional early meetings to meet with key stakeholders in Australia,
upon agreement with manager.
● Understand, and work alongside, the Australian Team’s ways of working, processes and expectations.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences, or related field
EXPERIENCE
• Essential: 2-3-year experience in communications, sponsorship, or donor relations in an NGO/charity secng.
• Experience in writing compelling stories, letters, and reports for donors
