CIVIL ENGINEER WANTED

The Embassy of Iceland is seeking to recruit a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer for the position of Senior Advisor to support the delivery of our development projects and programmes in Uganda. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all genders and backgrounds.

Job Title: Senior Advisor (Civil Engineer)

Reports To: Deputy Head of Mission / Head of Cooperation.

Job Location: Kampala, Uganda, with regular travel to partner districts.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the technical supervision and verification of the construction and rehabilitation of education and WASH infrastructure under the Embassy’s district development programmes.

This includes planning, procurement, implementation, and monitoring of construction projects in close collaboration with district technical statt. The position also involves ensuring project quality, efficiency, and long term maintenance strategies for infrastructure.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering project planning, procurement, construction project implementation, contract management, and monitoring, preferably in both government and donor-funded settings.
• Registration with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is mandatory.
• A valid driver’s licence is required for this position.
