KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide technical support to school staff in regard to malaria surveillance and school attendance in schools
• Supervision and technical support for the administration of IPT study drugs in children enrolled in schools in the intervention arms of the IPT in schoolchildren study.
• Work as liaison contact between IDRC and the District health teams, District education teams, and School administrations.
• Obtain parental consent for administration of IPT drugs in schoolchildren enrolled in the intervention schools.
• Lead in networking and liaising with the districts, schools, and other partners in the area.
• Oversee the conduct of the school surveys
• Build and maintain effective relationships with the administration and staff of the schools
• Work with the school leadership to ensure that data use meetings are regularly held at the schools.
• Provide support to the Regional surveillance officers
• Support the Field Coordinator in ensuring that malaria study drug stock monitoring charts are regularly updated.
• Ensure the use of school registers at the schools and the completion of data entry in a timely manner.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of the school registers (School attendance, drug stock etc) and other essential supplies at the schools
• Support malaria surveillance program activities at all malaria reference centers.
• Submit weekly updates and quarterly achievements to the supervisor.
• Key Result Areas/Outputs
• Completed parental consent for all children participating in study activities
• Timely, complete, and accurate administration of study drugs to schoolchildren in the intervention arm
• Timely data entry and sharing
• Completed school surveys
• School support supervision is undertaken for all schools every quarter

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Diploma/degree in Medical-related field, e.g, Clinical Medicine, Nursing, and Community Health
• A postgraduate degree in Public Health or a related field is an added advantage
• Experience working with Schools, government establishments, and other NGOs focusing on malaria-related work
• Experience riding a motorcycle with a valid riding permit
• At least 2 years’ working experience in the public health sector
• Ability to settle upcountry for field work
• Evidence of good writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently
• Must have valid GCP and HSP certificates
