KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• The SBC Associate will have the following key responsibilities:
• Manage all regional immunization program activities, including engagement with CSOs receiving sub-grants from PATH for immunization activities.
• Provide regular onsite and remote supportive supervision, coaching and mentorship of CSO staff during implementation of immunization demand generation interventions
• Represent PATH at the local, district and regional levels to elevate immunization program goals and ensure a strong voice for immunization advocacy within the broader CSO community.
• Actively take part in training CSO subgrantees, Village Health Teams, Community Health Extension Workers and members of community-based organizations (CBOs) in immunization concepts and demand generation approaches at community level.
• Grow and maintain relationships with local government leadership including district health teams, as well as other local stakeholders such as professional networks and associations in health, education and social sectors, community-based organizations, media, among others.
• Work closely with PATH program staff to assess capacity needs of CSOs and other local government staff and design orientation/refresher sessions for them to support effective delivery of immunization programs.
• Work in close collaboration with CSOs and communities, as well as other key stakeholders, to collect qualitative evidence using proven models and frameworks (such as Behavior and Social Drivers surveys) to inform advocacy and demand generation interventions for immunization.
• Work closely with other project staff, liaise with district officials, partner CSOs, and community groups to identify and strengthen platforms for meaningful engagement of community members and CSO representatives in immunization-related decision-making, policy processes, and social accountability.
• Actively contribute to the development of immunization program work plans and collection of monitoring and evaluation data for reporting on outcomes and activities to the donor
• Participate in weekly/bi-weekly check-ins with individual CSOs in their region to assess progress of activity implementation, identify challenges and possible solutions
• Review bi-monthly CSO reports for accuracy before they are submitted to PATH for consolidation interorganizational reports to Gavi.
• Support the mobilization of participants to take part in PATH-led activities at regional/district level.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences/behavioural sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Health Education, etc) or public health.
• A postgraduate training in a related field is an added advantage
• At least five (5) years of experience developing and implementing effective social behavior change/demand generation, communication and advocacy strategies, preferably focused on immunization/primary health care.
• Demonstrable familiarity with the dynamics of working with district local governments
• Proven experience working with local partners including civil society organizations, professional associations and umbrella bodies in health, education and social sectors.
• Deeper understanding and knowledge of the decentralization system in the Uganda context, and how it operates under the health, education and social sectors.
• Must be self-driven, highly motivated and with good communication and leadership skills that can drive transformation.
• Cultural awareness of the region they wish to work in, including ability to speak at least one local language that is dominant in the region, with proficiency.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Any additional training in social behavior change communication and advocacy is an added advantage
