KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement a 3–5-year fundraising strategy to financially support and advance environmental conservation in Uganda.
• Lead proposal development processes in collaboration with the Conservation Head and relevant staff, from capture to negotiation, adhering to WWF-Uganda’s guidelines.
• Conduct donor and funding opportunity mapping, providing intelligence on thematic orientations, engagement modalities, and forecasts.
• Ensure proposals align with donor requirements, UCO strategy, and conservation priorities, maintaining a pipeline tracking system.
• Collaborate with the Finance team and external experts to develop robust, high-quality proposals.
• Report proactively on fundraising progress and challenges to the Country Director and WWF-ROA team.
• Capture lessons from proposal processes to improve future submissions and promote knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate fundraising efforts with WWF-International and WWF-ROA to advance objectives.
• Strategic Partnerships
• Identify, research, and maintain partnerships with public sector, private sector, and individual donors in coordination with the Conservation Head and WWF fundraising teams.
• Position WWF-Uganda as a partner of choice for new funding modalities (e.g., direct awards, trust funds, tenders, consortia) while adhering to WWF’s gatekeeping policies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors.
• Support networking with key in-country and international donors.
• Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with civil society organizations, INGOs, UN, and government entities.
• Support UCO’s communication efforts by ensuring up-to-date business development collateral, including quality proposals and evidence of WWF-Uganda’s impact.
• Scope partnerships with organizations in international development, climate resilience, and natural resources sectors, coordinating proposal development working groups.
• Act as a focal point for WWF-Uganda in network communities of practice on fundraising, public sector partnerships, and corporate engagement.
• Integrate national fundraising strategies with landscape-specific conservation approaches and design tailored action plans.
• Facilitate senior staff engagement with donors to position WWF-Uganda as a leading implementation partner.
• Contribute to advocacy efforts to influence programmatic priorities at country and regional levels.
• Donor Agreement Management
• Ensure effective management and compliance with donor agreements, including quality and timely implementation.
• Monitor adherence to donor requirements, including evaluations, branding, project close-outs, and asset handovers.
• Coordinate regular program and financial reporting to meet contractual obligations.
• Oversee quality assurance of donor agreements and project/program development.
• Manage and upgrade the fundraising database (C2G) to support strategy and decision-making.
• Identify and mitigate reputational risks related to grant contract execution.
• Draft capacity statements, past performance references, and management plans for proposals, ensuring alignment with ESSF guidelines.
• Capacity Building
• Strengthen WWF-Uganda’s institutional capacity for grant acquisition and management.
• Train field staff on proposal development and grants management skills, including proposal and report writing.
• Build capabilities of staff and partner organizations for successful grant acquisition and management.
• Maintain a knowledge database to share information among technical, field, and other staff to capture opportunities and track grants.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Minimum Master’s degree in Business Management, Law, Marketing, International Relations, Business Communication, Development Studies, or related fields.
• At least 10 years of experience in business development, sales, financial resource mobilization, or key account management, with at least 5 years in designing and fundraising for transformational projects within INGOs/NGOs/not-for-profits or leadership roles in international development or complex matrix environments.
• Proven experience in developing and writing project proposals for diverse philanthropic actors, including public sector, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Charming, versatile personality with positive energy.
• Knowledge of conservation, development issues, donor strategies, funding instruments, and contract administration.
• Successful track record of cultivating funding partnerships across sectors.
• Experience coordinating and negotiating with government and donors at all levels.
• Strong understanding of development partnerships, fundraising, donor strategies, and international relations.
• Proven financial analysis skills, including preparing financial dashboards, scenario planning, and business case development.
• Good understanding of conservation, development, and political interests in WWF-ROA countries.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build relationships, negotiate, mediate, resolve conflicts, and develop capacity.
• Self-starter with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, including out-of-office hours.
• Strong cross-cultural skills and versatility in managing diverse partnerships.
