PROJECTINTEGRATED COMMUNITY HEALTH SUPPORT PROJECT – NAKIVALE. LOCATION: NAKIVALE REFUGEE SETTLEMENT CAMP – ISINGIRO DISTRICT.

Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF) is a legally registered organisation whose mandate is to provide, equip, and inspire adolescents and young people (10-30 years) in Uganda with high-quality, high-impact, and gender sensitive sexual reproductive health information and services. UYAHF’s program interventions also emphasize inclusiveness, non-discrimination, and anti-stigma, intending to bring forth and raise the voices and needs of all young people and youths, including the marginalised ones such as those living and affected by HIV & AIDS, TB, Malaria, and GBV survivors, etc., to be heard and integrated in program and decision-making processes that matter to their health and well-being. In addition, the organisation’s programming and interventions promote gender equity and equality, through advocacy for the respect of women and girls’ rights, prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, and elimination of all harmful practices, including child marriages, female genital mutilation (FGM), that undermine the dignity of girls and expose them to violence and stigma.

 

German Doctors e.V. (“GD”) is a non-profit, charitable association with legal capacity registered with the Bonn district court. German Doctors is dedicated to providing medical care to vulnerable populations worldwide, with a strong programmatic focus on primary health care (PHC) and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with the focus on patients with no or low income who have no adequate access to medical care. One main component of the GD projects are deployments of doctors voluntarily for 6-weeks. GD is active in seven countries worldwide (India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Greece, and Uganda).

 

With funding from the German Doctors e.V, UYAHF is going to implement a one (1) year project titled Integrated Community Health Support Project – Nakivale in Nakivale Refugee Settlement located in Isingiro District, South Uganda. The project will run from 1st July 2026 to 30th June 2027. This project aims at improving access, utilization, and quality of preventive and curative community health services in Nakivale Refugee Settlement through strengthened facilities and revitalized community systems by June 2027.

 

POSITION: PROJECT CORDINATOR – 1 VACANCY

Location: Nakivale Refugee Settlement – Isingiro District.

Reports to: Programs Manager – UYAHF.

Responsible for: Driver and other support staff.

Period of appointment: One (1) year but renewable subject to better performance and availability of funding.

Starting Date: 1st June 2026

Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will oversee and provide leadership in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities.

 

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  1. Supporting the day-to-day implementation of the project activities, including planning, preparation, and execution of activities.
  2. Maintaining close coordination and communication with Implementation teams, partners, and collaborators, namely the Office of the Prime Minister, other line ministries, donors, District Local Governments, health facilities, and the target communities
  • Preparing and sharing monthly and Quarterly management and financial reports of the project with the Programs Manager and the GD Project Officer.
  1. Coordinating the work of the short-term doctors, including orientation, debriefing, field introductions, movements, and work execution.
  2. Overseeing the general well-being of the short-term doctors while in the country by ensuring their welfare is well catered for.
  3. Responsible for execution of project workplan and budget, including initiating requisitions, reviewing payment for all project activities.
  • Ensuring all financial accountability and reports are prepared and sent on time to the Programs Manager and GD Project Officer.
  • Ensuring that all project logistics (materials, supplies, and equipment) are available at the right time, right quantities and qualities.
  1. Producing high-quality program documentations and communication materials, including success stories, case studies, and photo/video content for reporting and social media engagement, enhancing program visibility and impact.
  2. Implementing end-to-end project cycles across development and humanitarian (refugee) contexts, including proposal writing, budgeting, work planning, execution, monitoring, and adaptive management using outcome harvesting and other learning-focused approaches.
  3. Keeping proper records and inventories of all information related to the project.
  • Perform any other project duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Programs Manager and GD Project Officer.

 

PERSONS QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS.

  • A suitable person MUST possess a bachelor’s degree in a Human Health-related course, or development studies, or Social Work and Social Administration, or Public Health, or any other related course.
  • A postgraduate training in Project planning and Management, or Public health and management, or Monitoring and evaluation, or Development studies, or in any other related field.
  • Must have five (5) years or more experience in managing donor-funded projects, more so dealing in human health, both preventive and curative.
  • Should have strong project management skills, including management and financial skills.
  • Should have experience in managing project outputs and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of data collection and management skills is highly desired.
  • Should have exceptional problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and follow through on multiple tasks.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team with diverse sectors.
  • Should be Willing to work within the Refugee settlement.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
