The Monitoring and Evaluation Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of our programs and interventions. This position requires a strong commitment to refugee empowerment, youth development, and gender equality.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework for AYAN’s programs and projects.
  2. Design data collection tools, methodologies, and systems to capture relevant indicators and outcomes.
  3. Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data to assess program performance and impact.
  4. Conduct regular field visits to project sites in Uganda and South Sudan to monitor activities, gather data, and provide technical support to field staff.
  5. Coordinate with program Leads and staff to ensure that monitoring and evaluation activities are integrated into project planning, implementation, and reporting.
  6. Provide capacity building and training to staff and partners on monitoring, evaluation, and learning best practices.
  7. Produce timely and high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Collaborate with external consultants, researchers, and partners to conduct evaluations, assessments, and studies as needed.
  9. Contribute to organizational learning and knowledge management by documenting lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  10. Support program teams in utilizing monitoring and evaluation findings to adapt and improve program interventions.
  11. Stay abreast of developments in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, tools, and techniques, and ensure their application to AYAN’s programs.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

 

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, social sciences, statistics, or a related discipline.
  2. At least 5 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
  3. Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including the development of indicators, data collection tools, and systems.
  4. Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, with proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or R.
  5. Experience working with refugee or displaced communities, particularly youth and women, is highly desirable.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  7. Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or local languages spoken in Uganda and South Sudan is an advantage.
  9. Commitment to AYAN’s vision, mission, and values, including a strong commitment to gender equality, youth empowerment, and refugee rights.
