CTPH has established itself as a leader in sustainable development through integrated human, animal and ecosystem health approaches.
We work with the government, local community, civil society and the private sector, currently with field programs in 2 countries in Africa, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to implement three main program areas, which are integrated
1.    Wildlife Conservation including wildlife health
2.    Community Health with a focus on One Health
3.    Alternative Livelihoods for protected area communities

Job Purpose

The Grant Writing and Fundraising Assistant will support the Grants and Fundraising team in identifying funding opportunities, developing funding proposals, maintaining donor relationships, and strengthening CTPH’s resource mobilization efforts. The role will provide technical, research, administrative, and coordination support across institutional fundraising and individual donor engagement.

• Research and track funding opportunities aligned with CTPH’s programmes in conservation, public health, One Health, livelihoods, and environmental restoration.
• Support the development of grant applications, concept notes, expressions of interest, and letters of inquiry to institutional donors, foundations, government agencies, and other funding partners.
• Conduct background research on donor priorities, funding trends, and relevant sector developments to inform proposal development.
• Support compilation, review, and organization of proposal inputs, including programme information, organizational documents, budgets, success stories, and other donor requirements.
• Maintain and update grant opportunity trackers, donor databases, and fundraising records.

2. Donor Engagement, Individual Giving and Fundraising Support

• Support management of CTPH’s institutional and individual donor relationships through timely communication, engagement activities, and follow-up actions.
• Assist in maintaining accurate individual donor records, tracking contributions, and supporting donor stewardship activities.
• Support development of donor communications including project updates, newsletters, impact stories, appeals, and fundraising materials for online and donor audiences.
• Assist in coordinating fundraising campaigns, donor outreach initiatives, and activities aimed at strengthening donor retention and engagement.
• Support preparation of donor briefing materials, presentations, and updates for donor meetings and engagements.

3. Grants Administration, Coordination and Organizational Support

• Support coordination of grant development processes by tracking deadlines, following up on inputs, and ensuring timely submission of funding applications.
• Maintain organized grant files, donor correspondence, compliance documents, and fundraising documentation.
• Support collection and documentation of programme achievements, evidence, and lessons learned to strengthen fundraising efforts.
• Support other resource mobilization and partnership activities aimed at strengthening CTPH’s funding base.

4. Additional Responsibilities

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Development Director.

Education and Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in development studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Communications, Project Planning and Management, International Relations, or a related field.
• Additional training or demonstrated interest in grant writing, fundraising, donor relations, proposal development, or nonprofit resource mobilization is an added advantage.

Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in grant writing, fundraising support, communications, research, or programme support (fresh graduates with relevant internship experience will be considered).

Skills

• Strong research, writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Ability to synthesize information from technical documents into clear donor-focused content.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
