• ABOUT FCCU
The French Chamber of Commerce Uganda (FCCU) is an independent, non-profit organisation whose mission is to bring together companies and entrepreneurs in Uganda seeking to develop business relationships and partnerships with France.
FCCU promotes French-Ugandan commercial relations, supports investment and business development, creates networking and business opportunities for its members, and facilitates engagement between the private sector, government institutions and other key stakeholders.
The Chamber currently has a growing membership base and organises a wide range of business, networking and sector-focused events throughout the year.
• POSITION PURPOSE
The General Manager is responsible for the overall management, growth and development of FCCU, ensuring that the Chamber delivers value to its members while strengthening its financial sustainability, visibility and position as a leading platform for French-Ugandan business relations.
The role combines business development, membership growth, stakeholder engagement, event management, financial oversight, strategic partnerships, communication and day-to-day management of the Chamber.
The General Manager will work closely with the Board of Directors to implement the Chamber’s strategy, develop new opportunities and ensure that FCCU remains relevant and valuable to its members and partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Management
- Implement the strategic direction and priorities approved by the Board.
- Develop and execute annual work plans and business development strategies.
- Prepare regular management and progress reports for the Board.
- Identify new opportunities to strengthen FCCU’s relevance, influence and financial sustainability.
- Ensure professional, efficient operations and compliance with governance requirements.
- Represent FCCU at high-level meetings, conferences and business forums.
Membership Development & Retention
- Increase membership and approach prospective companies.
Build strong relationships with existing members and understand their needs.
Ensure members receive tangible value from their membership.
Organise engagement initiatives, networking activities and exclusive opportunities. - Monitor renewals and reduce attrition.
- Maintain an up-to-date membership database and pipeline.
Business Development & Revenue Generation
- Identify new revenue-generating opportunities.
Develop corporate partnerships, sponsorships and collaborations.
Secure sponsors for major events and initiatives. - Promote FCCU’s business services (market intelligence, company establishment support, recruitment, administrative services, etc.).
- Explore delegations, business missions, B2B meetings and market-entry support.
- Build partnerships that create value for members.
France-Uganda Trade & Investment Promotion
- Promote bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
- Identify sectors and projects of mutual interest.
- Facilitate connections between companies, investors, government institutions and stakeholders.
Support French companies in Uganda and Ugandan companies in France. - Monitor economic, investment and business developments.
Events & Networking
- Lead the planning and execution of FU’s event calendar.
- Organise networking opportunities, business forums and sector events.
- Ensure high-quality, impactful and well-attended events.
- Coordinate logistics, vendors and communications.
