Generic Role and responsibilities

1. Monitor and report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and NRC standards
2. Work with the community education committees in the planning and enrollment of the activities
3. Distribute and monitor the use of school materials according to procedures
4. Promote safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive learning environments. 
5. Report safeguarding concerns through established NRC referral pathways. 
6. Support inclusion of girls, refugees, and learners with disabilities in programme activities.
7. Provide support supervision to teachers and Instructors in their work
8. Suggest new methods and approaches to improve the quality of the activities
9. Report on all protection related concerns
10. Carry out data collection as required
11. Prepare field reports
12. Prepare and file relevant documents as required by line manager

Specific responsibilities 

1. Support implementation of Life Skills, Digital Skills, and i-UPSHIFT activities in assigned locations. 
2. Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, coaching sessions, community meetings, and innovation events. 
3. Support schools and TVET institutions during programme roll out activities.
4. Collect routine monitoring data from schools and TVET institutions. 
5. Support maintenance of attendance registers, assessment records, learner portfolios, and activity reports. 
6. Update programme databases and tracking tools
7. Assist in documenting success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
8. Conduct regular follow up visits to schools and TVET institutions. 
9. Support orientation of PTAs, SMCs, BoGs, youth groups, and community stakeholders
10. Assist schools in establishing and maintaining Life Skills and i-UPSHIFT clubs and activities.
11. Support logistical arrangements for trainings, meetings, assessments, and supervision visits. 
12. Maintain programme records and filing systems. 
13. Assist in procurement planning and activity documentation
14. Any other duty assigned by the supervisor

13. Competencies

   Desired professional competencies, knowledge and behavioral skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education/ other relevant field/ the equivalent
• Teaching experience of at least three years and above.
• Experience of working with education projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Knowledge of English
• Ability to speak local language commonly spoken by the beneficiaries is added advantage
• Knowledge of the local context and education systems in Uganda
• Ability to work harmoniously with the refugees and host communities
• Self-driven and ability to work well under minimal supervision

What we offer

• Duty station:  Kampala, Southwest locations
• Contract: national contract, 12 months (extension possible, dependent on funding)
• Travel: Frequent travel to the project sites
• Salary/benefits: grade 4 on NRC’s national salary scale.
