A Brief on the Company
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a public Limited Company,
fully owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda and holds the following
operational licences. System Operator, Operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid,
Bulk Power Supply, Import and Export of Power and; Public Infrastructure Provider (for
ownership and operation of the Optic Fibre).

UETCL invites applications from suitable and eligible candidates to fill the position of:
Job title : Design Engineer
Department : Grid Development and Planning Department
Reports to : Senior Design Engineer
Job Purpose: To develop and update Engineering Drawings for the implementation of the
Grid Investment Plan
Key Result Areas
1. Participate in the preparation of short, medium, and long-term development plans
for the transmission network.
2. Prepare electrical designs, bills of quantities, and cost-benefit analysis and tender
documentation/specifications for the design of new transmission lines in accordance
with engineering standards and procurement guidelines.
3. Prepare and /or review design calculations, specifications, drawings of transmission
line and substations in liaison with end-user departments for upgrades, changes on
the existing grid and renovations.
4. Support identification of optimal substation sites and line routes.
5. Provide technical support where there are required notification on the transmission
grid.
6. Inspect, identify and correct discrepancies between As-Built drawings and actual
installations for all works done by contractors.

The desired person should have the following essential requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical / civil engineering
2. 4 years’ work experience in planning and design of power systems (transmission
lines &substations)
3. Autodesk professional certification and Knowledge in PLS CADD, PLS Tower will be an
added advantage.
4. Knowledge in PLS CADD,PLS Tower would be an added advantage.
