On behalf of our client, in the Oil & Gas Sector we are looking for competent, skilled and experienced Control Room Assistant to join our team in Uganda. 

Job Title:   Control Room Assistant  

Location:  Entebbe Terminal  

Department: Operations  

Reports to:  Control Room in-Charge  

Responsible for: NIL  

Job Summary  

The Control-room Assistant works with the Control-room in-Charge in providing daily support to company operations and other departments. He is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Terminal instrumentation, communication, and control systems.   

Key Responsibilities  

• To monitor, inspect, calibrate and maintain all the instrumentation and control systems and equipment in the Terminal   

• Trouble-shoot defects and anomalies within the Terminal systems and implement continuity and restorative measures   

• Be responsible for installing, testing, repairing and maintaining fire-detection, alarms and fire-fighting equipment, networking, storage, CCTV and access control systems and ensure reliability and effective performance  

• Perform enhancements and improvements to SCADA equipment, PLC’s, servers and associated hardware, including the evaluation, selection, installation, and configuration of replacement/upgrading devices  

• Work with the operations department in monitoring operations activities, maintenance of records and communication of operations parameters  

• Prepare and maintain a variety of records and written reports of work activities and performing related work as required  

• Maintain inventory of all company computers, software and data storage devices, and engage with vendors and service providers to ensure procurement and maintenance of relevant service contracts and warranties 

Required Qualifications 

Academic Qualifications 

• Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control  

Required Experience 

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience specifically in instrumentation and control or electrical engineering role in Oil and Gas Terminal / Depot, Power Plant, Electricity Distribution or Manufacturing facility  

• Knowledge of control systems, electronics, SCADA, networking, data-base management is advantageous  

Required Skills 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions  

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
