Location: Kampala, Uganda (with field travel as required)
The Communications & Advocacy Specialist will strengthen BIU’s fundraising capacity, visibility, and influence by translating programme evidence, learning, and community voices into compelling narratives that mobilize resources from diverse funding sources, including donors, foundations, corporates, embassies, individual giving, and events.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop fundraising and visibility materials including organizational profiles, programme briefs, case studies, and impact stories.
- Strengthen funding proposals and fundraising pitches through clear, evidence-based narratives.
- Support diversified fundraising initiatives through tailored communications.
- Develop briefing packs, pitch decks, and presentations for fundraising and advocacy engagements.
- Grow BIU’s strategic social media presence to support fundraising and advocacy goals.
- Ensure all communications meet safeguarding, ethical, and funder-compliance standards.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in NGO communications, advocacy, or fundraising support.
- Proven experience in developing fundraising or donor-facing materials.
- Strong evidence-to-storytelling and narrative development skills.
