About Client:
The client is the first and only provider of Sharia-compliant insurance solutions in Uganda, offering a comprehensive suite of Takaful products.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategic Leadership
• Develop and articulate a clear and compelling strategic vision for the company, aligning with Sharia principles and market opportunities.
• Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and strategic partnerships within the Islamic finance ecosystem.
• Ensure all operational and strategic decisions are in compliance with Sharia guidelines in consultation with the Sharia Supervisory Board.
• Develop and communicate the company’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives driving transformational agenda
• Formulate and execute comprehensive business plans to achieve financial targets and market expansion.
• Financial Management
• Drive the company’s financial performance, ensuring revenue growth, profitability, and sound financial management in accordance with Islamic finance principles.
• Implement effective cost management strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
• Market Positioning and Growth
• Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to enhance the company’s market share.
• Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to support business growth.
• Risk Management
• Establish and maintain a robust risk management framework that addresses both conventional and Sharia-specific risks.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to make informed decisions.
• Relationship Management
• Build on existing strong engagements with intermediaries – Agents/Brokers/Banks.
• Nurture and develop corporate relationships to ensure client acquisition and business retention.
• Operational Excellence
• Oversee all aspects of the company’s operations, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to Sharia principles.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.
• Corporate Governance
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Uphold high standards of corporate governance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.
• Talent / Team Management
• Provide credible and agile leadership to the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring that they actively participate in the Team, contribute to strategic thinking and implementation of the strategy.
• Set long-term and short-term business goals and hold individual executive team members responsible for achieving these goals.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and collaboration.
• Ensure high employee engagement levels and a culture which enables customer focus and optimum performance.
• Responsible for delivering effective people processes including talent management, succession planning, performance management and reward.
• Brand Management
• Enhance and protect the company’s brand by maintaining a positive public image.
• Implement effective marketing and communication strategies to promote the company’s products and services.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Holder of a recognized University Degree.
• In-depth knowledge of the Ugandan insurance market, regulatory environment, and industry best practices.
• Strong understanding of Islamic finance principles, particularly Takaful models and Sharia compliance requirements.
• At least five (5) years working experience at Senior Management level.
