Position: Chief Business Officer

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Purpose

Responsible for providing leadership and overall direction of business growth in the bank, overseeing the growth of quality loan portfolio and deposits.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the overall product, business growth and sales objectives and plans, and monitor performance against the strategic business growth plan.
• Responsible for the growth of the bank’s loan portfolio, ensuring growth and quality targets are met at all branches.
• Carry out Business development initiatives to seek out and target new customers and new sales opportunities.
• Establish and ensure the delivery of high-quality customer service to all clients.
• Responsible for the disbursement of quality credit in line with the banks credit policies making sure all branch credit approval and assessment processes are working effectively.
• Supervise and guide all heads of business units within the department to ensure growth targets for loans and deposits are meet.
• Responsible for the assessment of key risks in the Business department and the development of prudent mitigants to address them.
• Directly responsible for providing continuous leadership, supervision, development training for all staff under the dept, ensuring skills gaps are identified and bridged, succession plans are followed and implemented, and overall performance management is done.
• Ensure the department complies fully with all required procedures and laws including AML, FIA, internal policies etc.
• Ensure compliance with Finance policies and procedures, BOU regulations, budget parameters, and procedures and the risk management framework operational within the Bank.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related course from a recognized University.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management is an added advantage.
• An MBA or a professional training in Banking would be an added advantage
• A minimum of 15 years working experience in banking/microfinance/fintech with at least 5 years in a senior business role within the financial services industry.
