The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 6 months. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Katakwi and Moroto, Uganda .The position is paid according to SG.4.

Your responsibilities

Duties and area of responsibility

1. Duties with own area of responsibility

• Ensure the payment management by being responsible for the cashboxes, if any: guarantee that the payments are disbursed and/or the advances given according to the rules and allocated to the relevant project(s).

• Regular reconciliations (ensuring that physical cash balances, if any are matching cashbook records).
• Do the follow-up of the advances given.
• Check and scan vouchers and relevant supportive documents (quality, authenticity, reliability, accuracy and fairness).
• Support, if needed, in major payments done in the field.
• Daily recording of vouchers in the accounting platform and prepare vouchers for booking.
• Ensure due payments for all items and services (after approval) and advances
• Adhere to Welthungerhilfe’s financial guidelines and procedures

2. Duties without own area of responsibility

• Where applicable, contribute to preparing audits, internally or with partners.
• Ensure correct filing of all financial and administrative documents

3. Specific duties of the position

• Correctly updating tax deductions and making payments.
• Uploading payments on online payment platforms.
• Voucher Scanning.

Your profile

Required qualifications, competencies and experience

• BA in Accounting with three years of relevant work experience in local NGO/CSPs
• Advanced knowledge of English
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and accounting software
• Good interpersonal skills and motivated and willing to take initiative (determination).
• Person of high integrity.
• Knowledge of any relevant local languages an asset.
