POSITION: ACCOUNTANT
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Intermediate (Mid-Level)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Maintaining accurate books of accounts and posting journal entries.
• Posting borrower loan repayments accurately to the correct accounts.
• Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
• Performing monthly bank, cash, and loan reconciliations.
• Supporting accounting for loan disbursements and asset financing.
• Preparing and filing statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and NSSF.
• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Supporting audit preparation, documentation, and related financial reviews.
• Ensuring accounting records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for candidates with:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA/ACCA qualification — part-qualified or pursuing.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in microfinance, lending, or financial services.
• Experience in Boda Boda or asset financing will be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting/core banking software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax requirements and microfinance regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High integrity, professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
