The MEAL Assistant will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system to ensure effective tracking of project performance. He/she will assist in planning M&E activities, collecting and analyzing data, ensuring accountability mechanisms are in place, and preparing timely reports to guide decision-making and learning.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with the project’s MEAL plan.
• Support the design and execution of baseline, midline, and endline evaluations.
• Monitor project activities and outputs to ensure alignment with project indicators and targets.
• Compile and review activity reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Track key performance indicators and provide regular updates to the project team.
• Support learning and reflection activities to improve project effectiveness and relevance.
• Maintain project databases and ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
• Build the capacity of field staff on MEAL tools and processes.
• Support accountability to project beneficiaries by implementing feedback and complaints mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with donor and organizational MEAL requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, social sciences, Economics, or a related discipline.
• A postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in M&E, data management, and documentation within the NGO or development sector
• Proven experience working with refugee and host communities is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with demonstrated ability to interpret data for decision-making.
• Proficiency in M&E tools and software (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox, ODK, SPSS, etc.).
• Motorcycle riding skills with a valid riding permit is mandatory.
• Willingness to work in rural communities.
• Knowledge of local languages spoken in the project area
